Data Analyst – Prevention Analytics
- $94,473 per annum + superannuation

The Intelligence Management Function (IMF) is a centralised data and analytics division to support prevention-led and client-centric decision making throughout WorkSafe.
This Data Analyst role sits in the Prevention Analytics team in the Insights & Analytics Delivery function. The Analyst is a key supporting role, reporting to the Principal Analytics Consultant.
You will work closely with and take guidance from the Principal Consultants & Senior Analytics Consultants contributing to the analysis of data from a variety of sources, creation of statistical models, interpretation of model outputs, and distillation of subsequent insights into key messages to support the objectives of business stakeholders within WSV.
Key Accountabilities
- Extract, modify and analyse data to support analytics requests for the provision of insights
- Assist in the identification of opportunities, risks, hotspots and trends to aid understanding of prevention and recovery performance drivers, and work closely with stakeholders (within IMF and across WSV) to help determine the nature, causes and possible solutions.
- Use data visualisation tools to handle large volumes of data and produce reporting
- Provide evidence-based insights to inform decision-making
- Perform data validation and quality checks
- Contribute to delivery of cross-team projects and initiatives via Agile methodologies
- Contribute to development and provision of analytical services including:
- translating business problems into technical requirements and/or specifications
- data driven insights and recommendations
- performance measurement and program evaluation

Skills and experience
- Ability to assist in the collection and identification of stakeholder requirements for complex information requests and management reporting/dashboards.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, undertake effective research and analysis, and produce accurate analyses
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously with limited guidance when required
- Good knowledge of key data sources
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Some experience in using tools in order to wrangle, capture and prepare data from a variety of sources for consumption
- Programming experience within Python and SQL, and/or similar languages (R, SAS, SPSS).
- Experience using data visualisation and reporting tools in day-to-day work (e.g. SAS VA, QlikSense)
- Well-developed statistical and/or quantitative modelling skills
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification (e.g. Statistics, Business, Computer Science) and relevant experience
