Data Analyst (With Engineering Background)

Navantia Australia currently has an opportunity for a Data Analyst to join the team out of Garden island, Sydney office. As the successful candidate you will come from an Engineering background and have a passion for Data Analytics.

In the role you will be responsible for the ongoing assessment and continuous improvement of in-service IPMS data analytics of the support and mission systems for the Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) Ship. The outputs will contribute to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Lifecycle Cost Analysis of the material system. You will be collecting and analysing data from different sources to provide technical advice for sustaining the Ships. You will be involved in research and development projects conducted in the Through Life Support Facility (TLSF).

In this role, you will:

• Contribute to the Data Collection Analysis and Corrective Action System (DCACAS) and the Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) for both mission and support systems.
• Deliver analytical solutions and data insights as part of the maintenance function.
• Identify, triage, and provide technical support to Engineering based on data analytics.
• Ensure IPMS data from the ships is collected, stored and managed in accordance with agreed procedures.
• Undertake IPMS data related activities in the TLSF and support other activities as required.
• Conduct root cause analysis of failures and identify poor performing systems and provide reports.
• Deliver scripts to conduct data queries.
• Develop software tools and applications related to smart sustainment and data analytics as well as Research and Development projects.
• Act with due diligence and care when handling and analysing sensitive data.
• Contribute to various management reports regarding activities, challenges, risks and successes.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Desirable)
• Excellent communication and data presentation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Good knowledge of Python, MATLAB or similar tools, object-oriented programming.
• Knowledge of Database Management and Dynamic systems
• Understanding of reporting & data visualisation tools such as Business Objects, PowerBI and Tableau
• Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the business and with all stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills and ability to deliver results in a high pressure environment
• Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance
