The Data Modeller will be responsible for all aspects of data modelling for a large IT program. The role will ensure the design and development of logical data models and physical data models in the multi-tiered data platform. This new role will enable the successful applicant the ability to work on a modern data and analytics solutions using Databricks hosted within the AWS Cloud.
The objectives of the role are:
- Work with Business Analysts, Data Owners and Solution Architect to understand data platform requirements;
- Interface with various business and technical stakeholders to design, develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models while adhering to the enterprise data models;
- Design in accordance with data architecture, data management policies and data governance standards;
- Ensure the designed models meet business requirements and enterprise data standards while conforming to security requirements and industry standards;
- Design reporting models for end-user consumption or self-service as required;
- Prepare and maintain the bus matrix and data mapping artefacts with the Solution Architect; and
- Work with the data engineering team to ensure data models are correctly implemented through supporting the team during the development process.
Technical Requirements
The role is suited to someone who has:
- At least 10 years' experience in a data related role, with at least 5 years on data modelling for an enterprise data platform;
- Extensive experience in creating enterprise data models across multiple data facets;
- Proven experience in understanding business requirements, data requirements and transforming them to conceptual, logical and physical data models;
- Demonstrable experience in performing in-depth analysis of source systems;
- Understanding of Databricks and how its architecture may influence data model design; and
- Experience in design of reference data models.
Selection Criteria:
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in creating enterprise data models across multiple data facets;
- Proven experience in understanding business requirements, data requirements and transforming them to conceptual, logical and physical data models;
- Demonstrated experience in performing in-depth analysis of source systems;
- Understanding of Databricks and how its architecture may influence data model design;
- Experience in design of reference data models;
- Experience in translating business requirements and technical requirements; and
- Demonstrated agile mindset and agile delivery experience.
Desirable Criteria
- Extensive experience designing enterprise data models in the energy and utility sector along with experience working with different layers of modelling such as information models, curated models and dimensional models;
- Experience in working with complex source systems such as CRM and ERP;
- Experience designing data models for Databricks platform; and
- Experience in working in a complex business and technical environment and the ability to navigate through challenges.
