The Opportunity
Supporting the client’s portfolio management and decision support tool, which comprises an ecosystem of user interfaces, reporting and business intelligence tools that enable users to manage, view and interrogate data relating to programs, projects and domains and a range of capabilities.
The Branch is responsible for maintenance, support, and business intelligence capability for the solution. As part of the program of work focusing on continuous improvement, business intelligence and reporting, the area requires the skills of an experienced Database Administrator with experience in a similar environment and ideally within a Defence environment.
All candidates applying for this position must be an Australian Citizen and have a current Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) Security Clearance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with Portfolio Performance Management team and other Investment Portfolio Management Branch members to deliver Data Project outcomes.
- Develop and maintain professional, respectful, and positive relationships with users, product owners, and suppliers across Defence Groups.
- Highly effective in managing multiple, concurrent activities, while understanding and managing priorities, dependencies, and risk.
- Contribute to a harmonious team environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and team collaboration to deliver project outcome.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experienced with Microsoft SQL Server databases including:
- Administration, monitoring, configuration, upgrade and install Microsoft SQL Server databases to support delivery of service using:
- Performance of regular and database backups and ensure backups will support recovery needs.
- Maintain the performance and availability of databases that store information.
- Develop and maintain procedures and documentation for database.
- Design and implement changes to databases to support new information requirements.
- Provide advice, guidance and assistance and support to other team members, APS and third parties as required.
- Evaluate and Develop Data Analysis models and procedures.
- Monitor and the ability to troubleshoot any Database Replication issues.
- Sound knowledge in SQL Server performance features such as In-Memory OLTP
- Experience in SSIS, SSRS
