The Database Engineer is responsible for developing and managing the database technologies that will deliver a high standard of database availability and sustainability to ensure a high standard of application performance to the organisation and customers. You will be responsible for the design, building, implementation and operations of Database solutions.
You will work to understand the application requirements and identify how the database technologies can be designed and operated to enable the requirements. As you will be working in a geographically dispersed team, you will have strong capabilities in self-managing work and collaborating with people remotely, remaining connected to your team. Additionally,
you remain forward-thinking, keeping a watchful eye on emerging technological trends to ensure the organisation remains innovative and enhances its technology solutions in a secure and compliant manner.
Accountabilities
- Manage and administer the Database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability and security.
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions based on SQL / Oracle platforms, in collaboration with business applications, enterprise architecture and technology engineers.
- Manage and collaborate with platform and business applications incidents and requests, ensuring a high level of customer service and satisfaction in Database solutions.
- Lead and collaborate in technology projects, including lifecycle upgrades, and PAAS migration.
- Develop automation and monitoring solutions to streamline operational efficiency, capacity and performance.
- Maintain and enhance the security and compliance of technology to meet organisation standards, ISM, Essential 8 and ensure data integrity.
- Maintain and improve documentation of resolutions and operating procedures, to work towards root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, accreditations and experience Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant industry certifications/experience"
- MS-SQL,
- Oracle,
- or Other
- 5+ years’ experience in IT engineering, design build or Senior DBA
- Practical knowledge of accountable technologies and implementation / operational support strategies
