About the School
The School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences offers a number of career pathways across our four Colleges: Science and Sustainability; Clinical Sciences; Health Sciences; and Psychology. The School offers a wide selection of degree courses within the fields of agricultural science, environmental science, exercise and sports science, health science, medical imaging, medical science, medical sonography and paramedic science. The School also offers a range of vocational training options including beauty services; fitness, sport and recreation; hairdressing; health support and services; horticulture; laboratory skills and sampling and measuring; and workplace health and safety and safety investigation.
The research activities of the School focus on national research priorities that are important for social, environmental and economic well-being, both nationally and globally. A majority of research is conducted in partnership with local, state and federal governments, industry and other organisations with a particular focus on regional needs.
The Position
CQUniversity is seeking an experienced Dean to lead the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences.
You need to be a dynamic, passionate academic leader who can promote and drive excellence and a culture of achievement. You will adopt a creative and innovative approach to strategic planning, capacity-building, quality research, learning and teaching, and scholarship outcomes, as well as lead initiatives that enhance CQUniversity’s reputation for engagement.
You will work closely with the School leadership group, as well as colleagues across the University, to develop and deliver on strategic objectives. You will have a track record of scholarly achievement, innovative leadership and management skills, strategic networks and partnerships, as well as building research excellence.
Position Requirements
- A proven track record of delivering quality learning and teaching outcomes, developing and monitoring research and scholarship performance, building strategic networks and partnerships and managing human resources.
- Enterprise-development skills and a strong business and budget acumen to ensure the continued success and growth of the school.
- Doctoral qualification and academic standing appropriate for a professorial academic appointment with a record of high-quality leadership, research and scholarship relevant to the school’s operations.
- A well-developed understanding of current and emerging trends in tertiary education, especially as it relates to effective distance education and online delivery for HE and VET cohorts.
- Knowledge and understanding of university management, governance and quality assurance frameworks, including the legislative and accountability requirements of the Australian Higher Education and Vocational Education sectors.
