Deckhand / Multi-purpose Hand

The Rottnest Barge Service delivers supplies to Rottnest Island by two 30 metre landing craft. Our vision is to provide great service to our customers, efficiently and with high quality.  We aim to grow through the recruitment and training of individuals who care about our organisation and our customers.  

You will have a professional yet friendly style and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team. You are highly organised, have excellent communication skills.

We are seeking a Deckhand / Multipurpose Hand to work on our daily barge service to Rottnest. 

Qualifications

• Forklift ticket (HRWL-LF) (required)
• General Purpose Hand qualification (preferable) 
• Senior first aid certificate (preferable)
• Current driver’s license (required)

Job Requirements

• Experience in freight logistics 
• Vessel knowledge (preferable)
• Conduct loading/unloading and delivering freight on the island
• Early starts (5:00am during high season, 6:00am low season)
• Flexibility required for afternoon/weekend services at times (particularly over the summer months)
• Strong commitment to vessel and crew safety at all times
• Excellent customer service
• Strong problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills with a solutions focused approach

For the right candidates, we can guarantee 40 hours per week with the possibility of permanency.
