About Cape Preston Port Company (CPPC)

CPPC is the company that provides port and marine services to Sino Iron, Australia’s largest magnetite operation. Cape Preston Port is the first greenfield port to be built in the Pilbara in more than 40 years.

The CPPC offers a sea change lifestyle, with our shallow, purpose-built facility located on the spectacular Pilbara coastline in Western Australia’s north, some 67km west-south-west of Karratha.

Our transhipment method is a first for WA - we have 12 outer anchorages and five inner anchorages, which necessitate the cargo being transhipped to Cape and Mini Cape vessels.

Our stockyard feeding the product to the port has a total capacity of up to 1.2 million tonnes per year – its two mobile rail-mounted stackers have a capacity of 4,000 tonnes per hour each, and automated rail-mounted reclaimers scoop at a rate of 7,000-8,000 tonnes per hour.

At the breakwater, the magnetite concentrate is loaded onto barges or Transhipment Vessels (TSVs), before they’re towed offshore for the Transhipper to reclaim the product and load the larger Ocean Going Vessels (OGVs).

Our port regularly loads OGVs with 100 thousand tonnes per day.

We’re looking for people at the top of their game, who want to become part of Western Australia’s iron ore future.

To apply

  • Shortlisting for this position will commence immediately. We reserve the right to close the position earlier than stated
  • Please note: it is a requirement that all internal applicants advise their immediate line manager of their application.
  • Candidates represented by agencies will not be considered for this position.

As an employee of CPPC you’ll be part of a culturally and gender diverse organisation, committed to providing equal opportunities for all staff.
