An exciting opportunity has come up for a Defence School Mentor at Enoggera State School. This position is offered on a temporary part-time basis (0.21FTE and 8 hours per fortnight).

This is highlighted in our school pillars of Learning, Relationships and Safety. Applications are invited for the temporary position of the Defence School Mentor (DSM) at Enoggera State School. This position will commence in Term 2 of this year.
Your role:
The DSM is not a teacher, teacher's aide or counsellor, nor is it intended that the DSM work one-on-one with a student on a long-term basis. The role of the DSM is to provide assistance to Defence students and their families within the school community. This is achieved through four key areas throughout the student's education and as they move from one school to another. The four key areas are:
- Welcoming
- Integrating
- Parental absence support
- Farewelling
Our ideal candidate would possess;
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written) for working with primary school aged children, staff and parents, Defence members and their families.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, set priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver activities and develop resources relating to the needs of Defence families.
- Ability to acquire quickly an understanding of the operations of the school.
- Ability to “think outside the box” and innovate to develop school based, projects that foster a strong sense of belonging for students.
- A sound knowledge of Excel and Word
While not required, having a background or experience in defence would be advantageous.
