Deli Manager

Full Time | Sunday - Thursday Roster

$62,000 - $70,000 (Plus Superannuation)

Peregian Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Roz and Michael White purchased a small convenience store in Maroochydore in 1993. White's IGA are one of the largest independent supermarket groups on the Sunshine Coast with over 500 staff. Our store's are designed to cater to the unique needs of the community with a focus on ‘fresh and local’. 

About the Role:

White’s IGA is now seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Deli Manager for their Peregian Beach store. This highly regarded position will be responsible for the operations and the day to day running of an award-winning department and will report directly to the Store Manager. 

About You:

Suitable candidates must have industry experience in a similar role to competently assist in a wide range of operational functions and help lead a team to deliver retail excellence standards. Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and schedule deli staff. Assign tasks and responsibilities to employees. Provide leadership and supervision to ensure a productive and efficient team.
  • Food Preparation: Ensure that deli products are prepared, cooked, and presented according to established recipes, quality standards, and health. Oversee food safety practices, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages. Order deli supplies, ingredients, and merchandise as needed. Monitor product freshness and rotation, minimising waste.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers, taking orders, and answering questions. Address customer complaints or concerns and ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain a clean and organised deli department to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the store management to develop and update the deli menu. Experiment with new products and recipes to attract and retain customers. Price deli items appropriately, considering cost and competition.
  • Financial Management: Monitor deli department sales and profitability. Develop and manage budgets for labor, supplies, and other operational expenses. Implement cost-control measures to improve profitability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the deli department complies with local health and safety regulations. Implement food safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Stay informed about food industry regulations and adjust operations accordingly.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and sales events. Plan and execute marketing strategies to increase deli sales and attract new customers.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of deli products, including taste, appearance, and freshness. Implement quality control procedures to maintain consistent product standards.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the local community to build and maintain positive relationships. Participate in community events and activities to promote the store.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for deli staff. Keep employees informed about industry trends and best practices.
