The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Southeast Queensland.
The Oral Health service provides a range of oral health care services from IUIH and Member service clinics as well from a fully equipped mobile van, as required.
About the Role?
We are looking for a dynamic Dental Assistant to join our Southwest team. Within this role you will provide dental assistance (chair side) and dental administration as well as general support to our oral health team to assist in delivering excellent quality service to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families of the Southwest region, based in our Goodna Clinic.
Admin Duties
• Supporting Oral Health Management with initial screening, appointment bookings with excellent customer service
• Providing high quality general dental support and culturally appropriate services to clients, including surgery preparation, reception, and materials.
• Ensure maintenance and confidentiality of patient health records.
• Accurate and timely entry of client data into Health Record system
Dental Duties
• Performing oral evacuation procedures while maintaining infection control standards.
• Assisting the Dentist with housekeeping, sterilisation of equipment and materials
• Taking inventories and completion of requisitions as necessary and the safe storage and disposal of dental consumables
About You?
• Minimum of 2 years’ chairside experienced (preferred)
• Sound knowledge of Dental Processes e.g., referral, infection control, sterilisation, surgery preparation
• Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes.
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
• Current Criminal History Check
• Valid Blue Card (QLD working with Children check) (must have prior to commencing employment)
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
Desirable, but not mandatory:
• Current Certificate III in Dental Assisting qualification
• Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.
