Dental Technician

Located in the heart of Launceston, Scott Smith Orthodontics is a small, locally owned specialist orthodontic practice that has been in operation for over 15 years.  We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Dental Technician who takes pride in their work and wishes to join our amazing team.

This part time role (up to 32hrs, 4 days per week) is responsible for managing the laboratory and associated dental fabrication works for Scott Smith Orthodontics.  General duties include:

• Comprehending scripts for fabrication
• Fabricating acrylic, metal, thermoformed and bonded dental appliances
• Setting up and developing our 3D printing capability
• Using dental laboratory equipment
• Creating appliances from models
• Managing a schedule of works to ensure customer requirements are met
• Maintaining a clean and functional laboratory
• Ordering stock and maintaining inventory control
• General dental laboratory tasks such as sterilisation and maintenance of equipment.
• General administration

 The successful candidate will ideally have the following:

• Experience working as a Dental Technician
• A Diploma in Dental Technology or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage your own time and workload
• Demonstrated ability to comprehend scripts for job fabrication
• Experience in fabricating metal appliances
• The ability to bend wires on appliances incorporating springs and expansion mechanisms
• A vision towards utilizing 3D Printing technology
