Job description

Express Recycling is a nominated Container Refund Point for the state government-initiated Containers for Change Scheme. This is a permanent role located in Carrara (Gold Coast) QLD and may require some weekend work. 

Purpose of role:

As a Depot Site Manager, you will provide leadership and mentoring for a team of operational crew members that are responsible for assisting customers with their cans and bottles, and the necessary processing protocols to keep the site running efficiently and smoothly.

This key role will involve coaching, mentoring, and performance management of your team, while striving to deliver on the performance requirements of the contract & the company’s objectives. With the addition of our commercial service, experience in logistics would be highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:
 

  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor a team of operational crew members
  • Provide direction and support to your team in the promotion and achievement of exceptional customer service, safe work practices and cleanliness onsite
  • Responsible for staff recruitment, inductions, training, managing leave and conflict resolution
  • Rostering of permanent and casual internal staff
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Contribute towards the growth and development of new business
  • Manage logistics for the sites commercial collections
  • Effectively manage operational administration
  • Ensure there is ongoing improvement in overall service levels to our customers
  • Integration and implementation of WHS systems and all associated company policies and procedures
  • Manage traffic controls for both customers and contractors
  • Identify and report any hazards and risk and determining countermeasures
  • Ensuring site associates, visitors, delivery drivers etc adhere and align with site safety policies
  • Ensuring good housekeeping and maintenance of Depot Site
  • Attending monthly management meetings
  • Ensure all operational reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Forecasting & management of budgets
  • Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service and operations information
  • Define objectives, identifies and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of action, and evaluates outcomes
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Weekly meetings to review customer requirements & delivery expectations of clients
  • Develop personal growth opportunities

About you

  • Strong client service and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience, ideally within an operations role
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
  • Background in logistics would be advantageous
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • Experience in developing budgets and processes
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Intermediate PC literacy- Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point)
  • Results driven and focused on achieving targets within key deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of safety and quality management
  • Rostering experience
  • Open to learning and developing
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Continuous process improvement and problem-solving ability
  • Welcomes feedback and proficient in giving feedback
  • Current manual drivers license
  • Forklift license desirable
  • Truck license would be advantageous
