Hospitality magazine is the industry’s leading publication that shines a light on the people working within the sector. As Deputy Editor, your job is to share the stories of chefs, front-of-house staff, sommeliers, bartenders, business owners and everyone in between. The candidate will also be involved in the running of Hospitality’s annual restaurant conference.
Ideally, you will have two years’ experience in journalism or content marketing. Certainly, you’ll understand how to create lively, engaging content for readers. You will have an eye for detail and a nose for a great story. An understanding of the foodservice sector would be advantageous, although not essential.
Duties and responsibilities will include:

- Sourcing high-quality images for articles.
- Interviewing sources and transcribing.

- Liaising with the studio to discuss page design and to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Proofing pages, making corrections and ensuring all output is accurate and polished and meets production deadlines.
- Acting as an ambassador for the title, attending relevant functions and press events to boost the profile of the title, source material for news and features and support the sales team as required.
- Helping to source speakers for the title’s annual conference.
- Supporting/attending any face-to-face events organised by the publications.
- Contributing ideas for articles.
- Some interstate and international travel may be required from time to time.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of writing for digital platforms
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of tasks
- Ability to work among a team as well as independently
- Willingness to attend some events outside standard working hours

- Willingness to travel on occasion
- Knowledge of the hospitality sector would be advantageous
