About the role

We enable children in Out Of Home Care (OOHC) to achieve to their highest potential. We support their carers and their birth parents to create a safe and secure environment so these children have a safe place to land.

As our Deputy Manager OperationsFostering Young Lives, you will support the Manager to deliver outcomes for children in OOHC specifically. You will have carriage of multiple Operations teams, overseeing approximately 160 children in Out of Home Care.

Duties

  • Provide clear and focused leadership, supervision, debriefing, practice support and guidance to Team Leaders
  • Evaluate the quality of service delivery, client plans and client outcomes against service and funding objectives
  • Ensure that the Team Leaders and teams are supported to provide excellent services to children and young people, carers and birth families in OOHC
  • Lead and provide oversight of child protection investigations and ensuring all appropriate action is taken to maintain the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in Out of Home Care in collaboration with the Deputy Manger Family Partnerships, Manger FYL and Manager Complaints and Incidents.Ensure OOHC standards are met in terms of OCG compliance and FACS statutory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain systems that identify gaps in service delivery or regulatory standards and work closely with the Manager to address those gaps
  • Work with team leaders to help them understand and achieve performance expectations, build their capability, provide regular recognition, develop and utilise talent in the team, and identify and achieve improved client outcomes and increase employee engagement

Skills and Experience

You will have a degree qualification in Social Work, Welfare or Psychology or related discipline and:

  • Extensive experience leading child protection and/or out of home care services to improve client services and outcomes
  • Sound knowledge of the Permanency Support Program and accreditation requirements of designated OOHC agencies
  • Outstanding people leadership; proven ability to build and develop an engaged, high performing team
  • Strong management skills; meeting/exceeding performance targets and service improvement objectives
  • Working in a collaborative, cross functional way with teams, peers and stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving, decision making and manage balancing priorities
