Job description

Management - Schools (Education & Training)

Full time

$125,850 to $137,715+ 11% Super + Salary Packaging

Our DNA: We believe in the power of inspired young people.

We’re the Y WA.

The Y WA (formally YMCA) is a branch of the global Y not-for-profit organisation, formed in 1844 and have been contributing to our local Australian communities since 1851. We believe in the power of inspired young people, delivering education, health & wellbeing, childcare, youth services, and community programs to thousands of Australians every day. None of this would be possible without our special Y People and Leaders!

We’re looking for a Deputy Principal to lead their own campus at The Y School in Mirrabooka, (Perth, WA).

Your Impact:

At The Y School, we aim to uphold the Y’s values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility & Caring through providing high-quality educational experiences for all of our students. As a CARE (Curriculum & Re-Engagement) School, we are focussed on working with students at their point of need, dedicating time, energy, and expertise to formulating strong Individual Education Plans. We develop rapport with students in order to assist them in building towards further education or employment, through options such as WACE pathways, School-Based Traineeships and university bridging courses. Our main focus is to assist students to re-engage with education, supporting them to dismantle the barriers and create a chance to flourish.

As Deputy Principal you’ll lead the implementation of the ‘Y School Strategy’ on the current Mirrabooka Campus, providing a consistent approach for curriculum delivery for students in Years 10 – 12. The ‘Y Education Model’ will be your guide to maintaining a high quality of service delivery specifically focussing on supporting students who are at risk of disengaging with education. You’ll lead a dynamic and innovative team of Teachers, Youth Workers, School Counsellors, and administrative support. At times you’ll be hands-on, providing academic and mental health/wellbeing support for students and lead your team in the development and implementation of academic and support programs. But your mission will remain the same; ‘to see students appreciate education and truly flourish in the future’. Sounds interesting? Check out ‘Your Perks’ the PD attached below.

  • $125,850 to $137,715 + 11% Super per annum
  • Plus, substantial salary packaging benefits (broad range with NFP)
  • Permanent full-time position with exciting future career opportunities
  • Ongoing professional development, training, and professional support
  • Plus, buy a NEW CAR & save on tax (Novated Leasing on offer)
  • Corporate healthcare discounts (up to 8%)
  • Free employee assistance program

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Have a Current Teacher Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
  • Hold a Tertiary qualification in Education or Teaching that is recognised in Western Australia
  • Have Post Graduate qualification/s in Education Leadership / Business Management (highly regarded but not essential)
