About the Role:
WorkPac on behalf of our leading client are seeking an experienced Designer/Draftsperson to join the team in Banyo.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, design, develop and document industrial, commercial or consumer products for manufacture and modification of shipping containers with particular emphasis on safety and ergonomics
• Develop sketches, designs and documentation of clients’ requirements by 3D models and general arrangement drawings with sufficient detail to adequately show the design intent.
• Develop designs of standard and customised products satisfying clients’ requirements, certified standards, regulations and cost structures.
• Maintain close contact with engineering, marketing, production, and sales departments to establish, illustrate and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
• Analyse and develop RW product designs for standardised manufacture.
• Attend to requests for drafting design for repair and maintenance of RW products.
• Produce manufacturing structural and mechanical drawings and or create machine-readable instructions for manufacturing.
• Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics to produce a better value product.
• Review designs and specifications of RW products produced off-shore.
• Perform peer review on designs and specification prepared by other team members
• Perform site/production inspection to collect information needed for design
• Ability to use Solid Works and Auto CAD or possibly similar 3 D cad software to complete relevant tasks
• Provide support to other team members where requires
• an) factors, marketing considerations and manufacturability. Familiar with design and drafting standards including, but not limited to AS 1100 series.
Key Requirements:
Essential: -
• Diploma or Certificate in Engineering, Drafting, Architecture or equivalent
• 10 + years design and drafting experience in structural and mechanical fit outs
Desirable: -
• Proficient with drafting standards
• Trade qualification
• Familiarity within a steel manufacturing environment
• Membership with a professional organisation
• Knowledge of the dynamics, economics, logistics and physical constraints of containerised transport
