The Role

The Despatch Supervisor will be accountable for providing leadership and direction to the Despatch operations team overseeing daily operational activities at the Refinery. The role is essential in delivering superior production outcomes by collaborating with the process operation team, particularly, coordination with the Process Operation Supervisors.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position based at our Kwinana Refinery.

Key Responsibilities 

  • To provide a safe work environment, implement and deliver compliance with SHE&C plans, management systems and processes within the mine.
  • Champion the permit to work (PTW) system within the despatch area of operations, co-ordinate with the process operations shift team for all PTW requirements.
  • Hazard identification, reporting and rectification.
  • Active participation in the establishment of a health and safety culture. 
  • Comply with all health and safety, environmental and regulatory policies of the operating plant and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all health, safety and environmental incidents are reported.
  • Supervision and organisation of despatch processing crews including management of personnel and operational activities as required. Including the day shift cross over joint roles.
  • Develop and build team capability via recruitment, coaching and personnel development. 
  • Ensuring the team has obtained and maintained appropriate licences and or RPL (forklift, Reach Stacker, Front End Loader)
  • Developing operating methods and procedures in collaboration with the process operation teams related to Despatch, production and operational tasks.
  • Assist with planned and emergency maintenance in coordination with the maintenance team and maintenance supervisors. Feedback to operational co-operation with the shift process operations teams. 
  • Resolving short to medium term production issues associated with the Despatch operation (i.e. bagging, raw material and product movements, storage and despatch)
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Reviewing and improving standards and safe operating procedures for all processing production/operational tasks, focus mainly on despatch activities but could include any process operational activity.
  • Develop, plan and implement/oversee strategies for continuous improvement in the processing plant performance.
  • Oversee and lead the execution of multiple sustainable and growth capital projects for the plant assets are optimised for the Life of Mine

Role Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Frontline Leadership desired but not essential
  • Certificate in Process Plant Technology desired but not essential
  • Valid driver’s license
  • First Aid certificate
  • High risk license (desired)
  • 5+ years in despatch activities from an industrial aspect, fixed plant processing, High risk vehicle use all including at least 2 years supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Experience in commissioning and procedure development activities is highly desirable.
  • Experience in hard lithium processing and packaging desired but not essential
  • Despatch knowledge of refinery processing including bagging knowledge, heavy vehicle scheduling, weigh bridge activities and high-risk vehicle use around loading heavy vehicles or shipping containers is desirable.
  • Demonstrated track record of problem solving and solution implementation in a multi-discipline team-based environment.
  • Operating SCADA and DCS control systems desired but not essential
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels of the organisation, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
