As a Development Extension Officer (Grains), you will:

WHAT YOU WILL DO (key responsibilities/duties):
As a Development Extension Officer, you will work with extension officers in the Sustainable Grains Practices team to demonstrate and support adoption of on- ground farming practices.
You will:
- Work with team members to develop and deliver extension activities and materials (applying adult learning principles) to support the Central Queensland grains industry
- Develop an understanding of the Central Queensland farming system and factors that drive profitability, productivity, and sustainability
- Build collaborative relationships and develop empathy with regional grain growers, industry representatives and key research providers and use effective communication approaches to achieve project outcomes
- Work with Central Queensland grain growers and project staff to implement, monitor and evaluate on-farm development trials
- Participate in collection, analysis and reporting of various project data (including trial, extension feedback and survey datasets)
- Support other Sustainable Grains Practices team projects and activities and contribute to a culture of achievement and delivering quality outcomes in a safe and effective manner
- Develop your individual professional development plan to ensure you build on your understanding of modern development and extension approaches, and broadacre sub-tropical grain production systems.
You must possess a:
- A Degree qualification in Agricultural Science, Applied Science, Rural Science or in a field relevant to the position from a recognised tertiary institution. Broadacre dryland crop production experience is highly desirable.
- A current “C” class drivers licence allowing you to drive a vehicle in Queensland This role requires an understanding of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, broadacre sub-tropical crop production systems and knowledge and skills to conduct field trials. You will need an ability to develop effective communication skills across a range of formats.
