About the role:
This role is based in Cairns, Queensland at our Portsmith depot just outside of the city centre. Cairns is home to the great barrier reef and world heritage listed rainforests, beautiful beaches and a wonderful cosmopolitan city culture. Locally, there are world class schools and universities and an international airport that opens up the whole world to its residents.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to perform routine and un-planned servicing to our varied fleet of assets. Reporting to our on-site Equipment Manager as a part of a 30+ vehicle fleet, day to day you will be responsible for tasks including diagnostics, servicing, troubleshooting and repair work.
For this opportunity, we have a RELOCATION package on offer for the right interstate candidates, which can include flights, relocation of household belongings/vehicle, rental assistance and guidance with regard to rentals, schools (where applicable).
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Certificate Three in Engineering (Heavy Diesel Mechanic) or equivalent
- Valid HR/MR/MC license
- Experience with a range of heavy vehicles
- Zero Harm Safety mindset
- Willingness to take a Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol test
- Willingness to undertake a National Police check (if required)
Waste industry experience is not essential, however possessing a good attitude, being reliable and having a willingness to learn is. Ideally our suitable candidate will have some experience in electrics and/or hydraulics to support our business to thrive.
