Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Director, Communications and Government Relations to join the Engagement Portfolio, Chancellery Division.
The Director, Communications and Government Relations is responsible for leading teams that oversee QUT’s strategic media and corporate communications; deliver the QUT internal communications strategy to support staff and students; and are the key liaison point with all levels of government for QUT.

What you need to succeed
- Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a postgraduate degree demonstrated experience managing a communications function, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience leading a high performing team to achieve organisational goals.
- Demonstrated experience in Government Relations and providing strategic advise to a wide range of stakeholders on working with Australia’s government.
- Significant experience leading a communications function, with a strong understanding of media relations, digital and corporate communications.
- Outstanding communication, influencing, and advocacy skills to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including drive engagement within the sector and with all levels of government.
- Demonstrated experience in management of budgets and the ability to create and manage high-level projects that drive the success of organisation strategic goals.
