Waratah-Wynyard Council and Circular Head Council have an exciting opportunity available for a Director Community Services to support our growing municipalities.

About the area

Located in Tasmania's beautiful Northwest, Waratah-Wynyard includes the coastal towns and villages of Wynyard, Somerset, Boat Harbour and Sisters Beach, the rural town of Yolla and the former mining towns of Waratah and Corinna. Circular Head includes the coastal towns and villages of Smithton, Stanley, Rocky Cape, Marrawah and Arthur River, the rural towns of Irishtown, Edith Creek, Mawbanna, Trowatta, Togari and Montagu.

The Opportunity

The Director Community Services is a key member of the Executive Management Team across both Waratah-Wynyard and Circular Head Councils. The position is responsible for the strategic management of Council’s Community Services function including children’s services, tourism development, events, Wonders of Wynyard, community development, communications, recreation and community recovery.

About the Position

This is a full-time position working 75 hours per fortnight across Waratah-Wynyard Council and Circular Head Council.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, management, public administration, Community Services or related discipline
  • Experience in leading and managing a Community Services function at an Executive level 
  • Highly effective interpersonal, relationship management and negotiation skills
