The Director, Demand Modelling and Analysis will be responsible for leading data translation, management and monitoring of risks and progress of the Justice Reform Office's (JRO) work program, to support the implementation of criminal justice innovation initiatives. The Director leads the Demand Modelling and Analysis function, as well as various research and data-related projects to improve the criminal justice system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to a small team of researchers, analysts, data scientists and economists to set key priorities and achieve high quality project deliverables within the planned milestones of the JRO.
  • Delegate responsibilities within the team and oversee the provision of high-level advice across a range of existing and emerging priorities, including data-led insights, research, evaluation, data translation, and monitoring the progress of delivery of initiatives undertaken by JRO.
  • Actively seek out opportunities to further build an evidence base to understand key drivers of demand in the criminal justice system and identify programs of work to address underlying issues from a whole-of-system perspective.
  • Build strong and effective working relationships across the criminal justice system to support the implementation of initiatives overseen by the JRO and actively look for opportunities to develop and improve the justice system.
  • Oversee and provide advice on submissions, briefs, ministerials and departmental correspondence, answers to parliamentary Questions on Notice and policy advice for the robust decision-making architecture overseen by governance groups consisting of Ministers and Director-Generals from core criminal justice agencies and human services agencies.
  • Represent the JRO at a variety of inter-departmental and inter-agency meetings and ensure effective consultation and collaboration on data and policy issues that impact the implementation of initiatives of the JRO.
