Your Opportunity

As a member of the TAFE Queensland North Executive Team you will be a highly respected and innovative educational leader, with significant experience in the vocational training sector.  You will drive, shape and influence the strategic direction of the organisation.  Your influence will deliver the strategic objectives of both TAFE Queensland north and TAFE Queensland as a whole.

You will contribute through the Executive Team to the achievement of TAFE Queensland vision and ensure the organisation is a market leader in the provision of high quality education and training in Queensland.

You will provide strategic leadership through the development and implementation of vocational education and training programs and strategies that place the organisation at the forefront of innovative vocational education and training that responds to the needs of industry and individual clients.

By working collaboratively you will lead the delivery of highly innovative contemporary training for the students and other industry stakeholders.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Education & Training, TAFE Queensland north region.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity

The position will can be based at any TAFE Queensland North region campus, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.  

The Total Remuneration Package (TRP) for this role is to be negotiated. 

Key Responsibilities

  •  
  • Support the General Manager in the development and implementation of business strategies that enable TAFE Queensland to achieve sustainable growth and deliver quality services.
  • Contribute to the development and realisation of TAFE Queensland’s vision and goals through high level input into the strategic, business, and financial planning processes and driving business success through their implementation.
  • Provide expert high level advice and information to the General Manager and Executive team and other business partners of TAFE Queensland north.  
  • Provide advice to other key stakeholders in TAFE Queensland on issues relating to relevant vocational education and training programs and performance.
  • Provide expert advice and information to the Executive Team on strategies and key issues impacting the Queensland vocational, education and training sector.
  • Foster networks at the state and national level, and liaise and negotiate with Government agencies, industry representatives, key client groups and the public in relation to strategic goals.
  • Develop strategic alliances with major industry organisations to assist TAFE Queensland north to achieve it’s goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategies by planning for an innovative and viable mix of Vocational Education and Training (VET) products and services with regard to the Services & Arts Faculties.
  • Lead the activities of the Services & ArtsEducational Delivery and training portfolios to meet performance objectives.
  • Represent TAFE Queensland north and TAFE Queensland at major state and national forums and promote the activities of the organisation in developing new opportunities and achieving quality business outcomes.
  • Lead an environment and culture that values performance, teaching excellence, program innovation and responsiveness in the delivery of high quality Educational Delivery.
  • Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First, as well as the north Region agreed behaviours framework.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Shapes strategic thinking and leads with influence in the delivery of vocational education and training in an organisational setting. 
  2. High level leadership, planning and team management skills and the ability to articulate clear direction. 
  3. Proven track record in delivery of education and training products and a high level ability to form key business relationships that deliver quality outcomes.
  4. Leads cultural change and shapes an organisation to achieve strategic goals with integrity.
  5. Superior communication and negotiation skills demonstrated at a strategic management level

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Vocationally focussed educational qualifications and 
  • Strategic management experience in the vocational education sector 

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Education qualifications at a tertiary level focussed on vocational education and training
