About the role and area

We are looking for a highly motivated and capable leader to fill the role of Director, Producer Price Indexes (PPI) Section in the Prices Branch. If you are the successful candidate, you will be responsible for overseeing the collection, compilation and dissemination of the PPIs.

The PPIs provide valuable insights to inform policy makers, the private sector and the community of the inflationary experiences of businesses in Australia.

You will:

Manage a team of around 20 people located across Canberra, Perth and Sydney. Ensure the accuracy and quality of the Producer Price Indexes. Lead a change program to improve and expand the Producer Price Indexes. Build productive working relationships with key external stakeholders including the Reserve Bank and Treasury. Work closely with a range of internal stakeholders who use these indexes as an important input in the production of various economic indicators including the National Accounts. What we are looking for (selection criteria)

To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:

Demonstrated leadership in a statistical or data-related field. High-level conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to problem solve and use good professional judgement to make decisions. Demonstrated initiative and drive required to deliver a challenging and changing work program. Strong people management skills including a demonstrated ability to deliver through a high-performing team. Excellent oral, written and presentation communications skills that can be used in both internal and external environments. Sound knowledge of economic and price index concepts.
