Job description

Our purpose is to provide safe, culturally appropriate and affordable accommodation for First Nations people who need to be away from home to access services and economic opportunities. 

Across its network of hostels, dedicated Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) staff provide accommodation and meals for residents in a supportive environment, assisted by local First Nations service providers and referral agencies.

AHL also supports the Australian Government’s efforts to improve economic outcomes for First Nations people. By purchasing goods and services from First Nations businesses at every opportunity, we help support a more inclusive economy. We are proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the Australian Public Service, First Nations employees make up approximately 50% of our workforce.

An exciting management opportunity is available for a motivated and experienced individual to join AHL in a fast paced, operational environment. Director Frontline Services roles are critical to the organisation, overseeing the operations of a number of hostels within a geographical cluster to ensure appropriate and efficient services are delivered to our residents, as well as leading and developing the workforces in those hostels.
Success in this role requires strong management and leadership experience, commitment and passion for servicing First Nations communities, flexibility to travel regularly, and willingness to work ‘on the ground’.  The successful applicant will have a wealth of experience in accommodation management and will have proven success in developing teams capable of delivering high quality customer service.  

The role oversees medical and multipurpose hostels across WA, Adelaide and Alice Springs.  You will lead a small Operations Team supporting hostel management including developing staff, ensuring high standards of practice across the operations, driving high occupancy rates and ensuring AHL is providing culturally safe accommodation for our residents.  You will work closely with stakeholders to support AHL residents and to support local recruitment efforts. You will report to the General Manager Operations and provide high level advice and briefings on local issues.

Eligibility

Eligibility 
•    Be an Australian Citizen
•    Undergo a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check (prior to engagement)
•    Meet Fitness for Duty requirements (prior to engagement)
•    Hold and maintain a Working with Children Check in NT (prior to engagement)
•    Hold or obtain relevant qualifications.
 

Notes

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be prepared to regularly travel to AHL sites across WA, SA and Alice Springs as required.
