OzFish Unlimited is a national NGO dedicated to empowering recreational fishers in restoring their local waterways. We partner with fishers, governments, universities and other groups to invest time and resources into actions to counteract decades of fish habitat degradation.
OzFish is seeking a dynamic Director of Habitat Programs to lead our national on ground operational team. Are you ready to stretch your environmental restoration muscle? To see just how far you can take your skills and expertise to move the dial on positive environmental outcomes on the ground?
Working within the OzFish Executive Management team, and coordinating the OzFish Projects team and volunteer chapters nationally, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing OzFish national programs and initiatives that contribute to environmental conservation and fisher engagement.
- Identifying and pursuing diverse funding sources, including grants and partnerships, to support the project team's initiatives.
- Manage, recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing project team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities (currently 24 staff, 10 direct reports).
- Managing the project team's financial health, ensuring responsible budgeting, resource allocation, and financial sustainability for the project team.
- Supporting the Engagement and Culture team with media interviews and strategic insight for content development of all Habitat Programs.
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, First Nations, environmental organisations, community leaders, and other key stakeholders - state and national level.
OzFish is a flexible workplace with applicable policies, remote work platforms, plus a strong team culture across the national team. Preferably we would like this position to be based in our national HQ office in Ballina, however we will consider other locations as a work-from-home arrangement for the right candidate. Expect some travel nationally, up to 3 days per month.
