- Academic D - E: $173K - $221K base (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)

The (Centre) is a new major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care. The Director will be responsible for developing, embedding, communicating, measuring and achieving the Centre's operational vision, strategies and goals, in overall alignment with the Commonwealth grant obligations, Faculty's Health 25 Strategy and University vision and strategy. The Director will provide strong leadership and foster Excellence in research, and engagement activities.
The role will work closely with Consortium members, partners and research staff within the Faculty and across stakeholders to translate improved health outcomes for Australians living with intellectual disabilities, including building the profile of the Centre.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the creation and establishment of the new National Centre ofExcellence in Intellectual Disability Health, including the creation and implementation of its strategy and overseeing the subsequent operationalisation.
- Identify and prioritise critical resources required to establish the Centre, and recruit, develop and retain staff that excel in Intellectual Disability Health to achieve the Centre's objectives.
- Develop Centre capability and resources and communicate with key stakeholders to assist in achieving objectives including an increased profile and improved advocacy that translates into effective health policy and improved healthcare systems.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders within the Faculty and UNSW, and key external stakeholders including Consortium members, partners, Primary Health Networks, Local Health Districts, and other healthcare providers.
- Doctoral qualification with demonstrated outstanding and extensive academic experience in Intellectual or developmental Disability Health leadership at a senior level.
- Clinical qualification as a medical practitioner with specialisation or expensive leadership experience in Intellectual or developmental Disability Health.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in leading or overseeing large research and capacity building projects about the health care needs of people with Intellectual Disability
- Extensive leadership of projects which design, build capacity in, deliver and/or evaluate health services for people with Intellectual Disability.
- Distinguished track record Intellectual Disability Health research.
- Proven ability to work in co-design with people with lived experience of Intellectual Disability.
- Proven ability to apply advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills in a complex multi-stakeholder operating environment.
- Proven extensive leadership in developing significant productive relationships and engagement with external stakeholders, in particular industry, Government and the community.
- Substantial experience in high quality supervision of postgraduate research projects.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work and influence across disciplines, Faculties, institutions, industry and professional accreditation bodies.
- Evidence of being an inspirational role model for other clinicians and academics seeking mentoring, guidance, advice and support.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead by example in supporting equal opportunity and equity, diversity and inclusion policy and programs as they relate to staff and students.
