About the Role
This is a fixed term SES 1 role
The Director Regional Operations - Development position holds primary responsibility for overseeing the scoping, design, and development of projects within the Regions, alongside managing the delivery of externally developed projects and those initiated through collaboration with the environment and sustainability function. As a pivotal figure within the regions, the Director serves as a prominent representative of the Department, engaging with Local Government, key stakeholders, and the broader community to uphold the organisation's values and objectives.
Central to the role is the leadership of project development initiatives within the regions, ensuring a steadfast focus on safe systems solutions in the design of road projects. Additionally, the Director adopts a holistic approach to project development, incorporating integrated transport solutions across the entire network. With integral oversight of road safety and trauma within the regions, the Director collaborates closely with Road Safety Victoria and other key partners to implement initiatives outlined in Victoria's Road Safety Action Plan.
Position Outcomes
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in delivering high-level strategic guidance to the Secretary, Ministers, and Senior Leadership members on critical transport matters, policy directives, and implementation strategies aligned with broader objectives within the transport portfolio. They will possess exceptional communication skills, capable of fostering collaborative partnerships across the transport portfolio and the Victorian Public Sector. Their ability to effectively articulate the Secretary's priorities, advocate for transport initiatives, and provide support for the Secretary's public-facing and corporate responsibilities will be paramount to their success in this role.

Qualifications and role specific requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering is highly desirable
- Experience in managing large multi-faceted teams to delivery successful results
- Proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of Victoria’s road safety action plan
