St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace is a Catholic Day School in the Edmund Rice tradition for young men in Years 5 to 12. We have a commitment to the formation of 'Gentlemen of Terrace' to be young men of faith and learning who will make a difference through knowledge, humility, and wisdom. The college has an enrolment of 1800 boys from Years 5 to 12, and a staff of 230.
This key leadership role is appointed by the Principal and will report to the Dean of Business Operations. The role is a continuing, full-time role.
Key responsibilities of this role will include;
- Preparing monthly financial, management and Board reporting packs with insightful analysis, commentary and recommendations;
- Leading, mentoring and building capability with your team so all members are high performing and able to value add;
- Building strong relationships with Department Heads and Managers and assisting your team to adopt a true business partnering approach to all accounting tasks;
- Overseeing all general ledger activities, managing bank and investment accounts and credit cards;
- Assisting the Dean of Business Operations with cashflow forecasting, budgeting, scenario modelling, business case reviews and proposals;
- Assisting with WIP reporting, tracking of projects and cap. ex spend;
- Proactively identifying continuous improvement, automation and optimization opportunities;
- Ensuring sound governance frameworks, robust controls and financial rigour is implemented, documented and risk is minimized;
- Leading the annual audit process and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting, taxation, Workcover and other statutory requirements, and
- Supporting the Dean of Business Operations with funding requests, reporting obligations and other business critical tasks and projects as they arise.
CA/ CPA qualifications are essential as well as a commitment to personal and professional development and observing Christian Leadership through vision, service and example. You have solid technical accounting ability, a strong work ethic and commercial acumen. On a personal level you are a proactive and positive professional who sets high standards and prides themselves on leading by example and supporting your team to similarly strive for excellence.
Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders will be critical to your success.
Prior experience in the education sector is highly advantageous but not essential.
