Job description

The role  
Reporting to the Senior Director, Purchasing and Funding Branch, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Queensland Health's purchasing arrangements with Hospital and Health Services, ensuring purchasing model integrity and longevity. Your responsibilities include developing and implementing data model standards, overseeing and advising on the funding allocation processes, and safeguarding the transparency of financial allocations. You will lead best practice assurance and audit processes, providing expert advice on funding allocation methodologies to enhance service delivery efficiency and equity of access.

A key aspect of your role involves translating highly technical financial models into clear and concise outputs that can be easily understood by a diverse group of stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with the finance branch to align annual budget build processes with purchasing model processes and be responsible for ensuring all legislative reporting requirements that underpin health service funding is met. You will lead projects related to funding, purchasing, and commissioning models and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of divisional activities and processes. Your expertise will be crucial in responding to executive-level correspondence and preparing briefs for senior leadership, ensuring informed decision-making in relation to the national health funding pool. 

The successful person
To excel in this position, you must highlight a record of accomplishment as a senior healthcare leader, steering the strategic course of a healthcare funding and finance work portfolio and can demonstrate tangible system improvements Your background should encompass hands-on involvement with healthcare funding, purchasing, or commissioning models within a healthcare organization. Additionally, you should possess expertise in handling financial and healthcare activity data, demonstrating the capacity to analyse, model, forecast, predict, confirm, and draw insightful conclusions. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, including the ability to adeptly develop and respond to executive-level correspondence within tight timelines.

It is crucial to note that a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as accounting, financial analysis, data Modeling and analytics, business, or health information management is a prerequisite for this role. Furthermore, compliance with vaccination requirements for specified preventable diseases (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis, hepatitis B, and tuberculosis) is a condition of employment as outlined in Health Employment Directive No. 01/16.
