About us 

The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established to increase understanding of child sexual abuse, promote effective ways of protecting children, and guide ways to support children and adults who have experienced child sexual abuse. 

The Role 

We are so excited to announce a new executive leadership role at the National Centre – Director of Lived Experience Leadership whose work will ensure organisational approaches and attitudes support access and engagement of people with Lived Experience of child sexual abuse, along with their families, communities and networks

This will include amplifying the voices and experiences of people with Lived Experience of child sexual abuse.

The role will oversee the organisational approach to Lived Experience inclusion, influencing strategic direction, research and knowledge generation, policy development, training programs, and support and mentoring activities. 

Key Selection Criteria:

We are seeking a high performing Director of Lived Experience Leadership for a challenging full time fixed term position. Inspiring our entire enterprise, you will play an integral role in building and managing organisation-wide activities and projects that distinguish the National Centre as a leader in Lived Experience.  

As the Director you will work collaboratively with the executive team to drive the implementation of our “Here for Change” Strategy and provide strategic advice to the CEO and the Board relevant to achieving the above. The Director will work across the organisation to build a culture that delivers on our values, and shapes hope and confidence in responses to personal and collective Lived Experiences of child sexual abuse.

About You: 

If the below sounds like you we’d love to hear from you: 

  • A Lived Experience of child sexual abuse and a deep understanding of Lived Experience approaches, including advocacy, peer work, co-design and workforce development with knowledge of Lived Experience movements. This includes the ability and capacity to use insights and drive collective Lived Experience perspectives of child sexual abuse.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in mental health, community services or NFP sectors with demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, committees and the community, and demonstrated understanding of the contemporary environment as it relates to child sexual abuse prevention and response across the lifespan.
  • Demonstrated experience championing and delivering initiatives that embed Lived Experience participation in organisational operations and strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to collaboratively drive change through the design and delivery of policies and programs that embed Lived Experience, being aware of and balancing diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Highly developed project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate high-level project plans into implementation plans and monitor and report on project performance.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, relationship building and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to set and maintain personal safety parameters, negotiate, manage and resolve conflict, establish trust and gain cooperation with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive and diverse experience effectively engaging with people who are victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. 
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, and highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret knowledge and data in an ethical and solutions-focused way.   
  • A proven self-starter who is self-motivated with commitment and driven to set and meet targets.  

Remuneration & Benefits:  
This position attracts a base salary of $160K + laptop and accessories + superannuation + salary packaging + the flexibility of working remotely full time. The salary for this position is determined on the basis of the employee’s experience and qualifications and the role commences immediately.
