The Director of Nursing and Operations - Mental Health Services (DON) will provide leadership and direction for mental health nursing across RMH. This role will provide operational leadership and management of; RMH mental health inpatient units, Emergency Mental Health Service, Consultant Liaison Psychiatry, post discharge programs, bed management, PARC and CCU to ensure the delivery of safe, timely, effective and person-centred care.
- The Director of Nursing and Operations is responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality clinical services, education and research within the Service and within allocated. resources. This includes the provision of professional leadership and accountability for mental health nursing clinical standards, clinical practice, quality and safety.
- The DON is responsible for ensuring appropriate nurse staffing and skill mix, clinical competence, credentialing, and evidence-based standards of practice within the Mental Health Services. The DON will also have oversight of strategies to minimise clinical risk and the co-ordination of activities to support the provision of clinical and well-being services across the portfolio.
- The DON has a shared responsibility with the General Manager Mental Health Services and the Medical Director Mental Health Services for implementing organisation-wide initiatives for improving performance, workplace culture and organisational reputation.
- The Director of Nursing is a key member of the RMH MHS leadership team, and will contribute to service-wide strategic planning, quality improvement, service innovation and clinical research.
- The position reports to the General Manager, RMH MHS.
- You have highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, and evidence of effective stakeholder engagement.
- You have demonstrated expertise in delivering evidence-based mental health services to people with severe and enduring mental illness.
- You have a strong track record in providing professional leadership, and the ability to initiate, develop and evaluate programs in a public mental health setting
- You have experience within mental health settings working in senior leadership roles.
