The Role

The position calls for a Nurse Manager with extensive experience in mental health and highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated strong leadership for nursing and capacity for ensuring innovation and safety. The Director of Nursing will work alongside other Senior Managers to support the Service Director and Clinical Director to ensure a safe environment for staff and high quality forensic mental health care.

The Director of Nursing will assume principal leadership of, and responsibility for, all nursing operations to ensure positive patient outcomes, improved specialist nursing practices in forensic mental health and workplace conditions, staff safety, award alignment, fiscal responsibility, and alignment with local workforce priorities.

Our location, Team, and Service

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW.  This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients. 

A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals are dedicated to providing a care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.

A comprehensive two-week full-time orientation is provided for all new staff commencing at the Forensic Hospital. The next intake dates are 27 May and 5 August 2024.
