Tell me more...The Director of Nursing is the clinical manager and leader of Kowanyama Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in the Torres & Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS). The role also coordinates the facility management of the Kowanyama PHCC and staff accommodation supported by the Building, Engineering and Maintenance team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead and manage a small team to achieve successful outcomes and lead the TCHHS values by example and effectively manage existing staff resources to meet the needs of the organisation.
• Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills within a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex health services, across multiple sites within a budget and implement cost reduction strategies. Proven application of advanced system problem solving in relation to the functioning of health service provision.

Requirements for the role:

• Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties.
• 5 years' experience post registration rural and remote experienced would be essential.
• Experience of living and working in an isolated complex clinical & cultural environment, with capacity to travel long distance by road, or in small aircraft.
