We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced person to lead and manage our Projects and Engineering teams in a full-time capacity. This role encompasses the management of both the Project Delivery and Project Management Office (Projects) and the Mechanical Engineering and Design Drafting departments (Engineering). The Director of Projects & Engineering will report directly to the Head of Glencore Technology.
You will be responsible for:
Projects:
- Ensure all Projects and manufacturing are undertaken in accordance with the Glencore’s Safety standards.
- Ensuring that Contract Risks associated with Projects are appropriately managed and profit Opportunities maximised.
- Overseeing project resourcing, ensuring adequate resources are available when required and project members skills are being effectively utilised on the prioritised tasks.
- Ensuring that the project schedule is always optimised and maintaining all progress metrics.
- Leading and mentoring Senior/Project Managers and Project Teams to successfully deliver projects.
- Monitoring monthly status reporting and ensuring it is being conducted by the Project Managers.
- Overseeing Project financials, ensuring that the Senior/Project Manager implements financial Project controls.
- Ensure vendor management is undertaken to ensure manufacturing partners maintain the ability to meet GTs forecast workload
- Maintain an effective PMO team to support the project execution.
Engineering:
- Ensure engineering complies with statutory and regulatory requirements of the jurisdiction that the work is being performed for and company standards are maintained.
- Maintain a Safety in Design focus across all engineering designs.
- Managing the allocation of resources to ensure all engineering projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Responsible for the value engineering of our solutions to ensure we provide optimal outcomes on a project specific basis.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical highly desired) and a strong background in Project Management with at least 10 years’ experience. PMP Certification well regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with organisational goals and drive business growth.
- Prior experience in the mining and minerals processing industry, with an understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
- Ability and willingness to undertake frequent domestic and international travel.
