Job description

The Friends’ School, Hobart is a leading Independent School in Tasmania, teaching students from Early Learning to Year 12 across the PYP, IBDP, TCE and Australian Curriculum, under the auspices of The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The Director of Teaching and Learning at The Friends’ School holds a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership of Teaching, learning, curriculum and pedagogy. This role requires a passion for teaching and learning, a vision of education in the future and the capability of leading effective change to achieve the best possible outcomes for students, staff and the School community. 

You will be a passionate, collaborative leader who balances your strengths in holding and communicating vision, with developing and implementing strategy. You will hold a clear vision for a progressive education that enables our students to thrive in a complex world. You will also have a proven track record in leading in the development and implementation of Whole-School projects that support an engaging and connected curriculum and effective pedagogies.  

Supported by an outstanding and committed team of curriculum and learning leaders across each stage of schooling (Early Learning, Primary, Middle and Senior School) you are an exceptional educator and convenor who will lead the research into and implementation of innovation in curriculum, teaching and learning that  supports our Purpose and Concerns.
