Director Priority Markets

  • Lead a team of international experts that help guide NSW's international agenda

About the Role
NSW's economic interests are best serves through targeted engagement with the Priority Markets that drive the majority of the State's trade and investment.
The Director Priority Markets leads a team of experts that strengthen international relationships, identifies economic opportunities, and provides relevant and actionable advice to the NSW Government.
The role is responsible for:
  • Working closely with NSW's international network to support Cabinet Minister engagement with Priority Markets
  • Running onshore export and investment lead generation activities and delegations
  • Putting the State's 11 Sister State relationships to work for NSW
  • Advising and supporting all department engagements with Priority Markets, including the Going Global Export Program
  • Nurturing networks for gathering actionable, market-specific intel, including with NSW's International Network, NSW Consular Corps (inc. Consuls General), Foreign Trade Commissions in Australia, Market-focused business chambers, Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and strategic and channel partners.
About You
You will have demonstrated experience and expertise in Priority Markets, managing and navigating international trade and investment relationships and activities, with a sound understanding of government and market frameworks relating to trade and investment.
You will have sophisticated negotiation skills, combined with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to adapt communication styles to suit your stakeholder audience, both onshore and offshore.
Your ability to manage your time and prioritise your work to achieve quality outcomes in tight timeframes will ensure your success in this role.
