Management - Schools (Education & Training)

The Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia invites applications for the role of Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing.

As a member of the Executive team, the successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and will play a critical role in shaping the future of Catholic education in Western Australia.

The Role

This full-time, 5-year appointment commences on 1 January 2025 and concludes on 31 December 2029.

The Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing will lead initiatives to enhance educational quality and promote the wellbeing of students and staff across CEWA's network of schools.

Skills and Experience:

  • Provides witness to Catholic Education's role in the life and mission of the Church in Western Australia.
  • Accreditation for Leadership.
  • Demonstrates capacity to articulate an understanding of the Catholic Church's mission in school education.
  • Experience in fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive organisational excellence.
  • Demonstrated success building positive relationships and engaging and influencing effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, government agencies, and community organisations.
  • Extensive experience and success in senior leadership roles within the education sector.
  • Experience leading significant strategy that relates to school and system improvement reforms.
  • Experience in leading and developing high performing teams dedicated to the mission of the organisation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in education-related fields at or above master's level.
  • Strong understanding of educational best practices, curriculum development, and pedagogical approaches.
  • Be able to travel inter- and intra- state, as required.

  • An example of a major School Improvement initiative that you have spearheaded at your current workplace or school, employing the "SAO" method:
    • Situation: Describe the circumstances that necessitated review and improvement.
    • Action: Specify the precise actions you undertook or led.
    • Outcome: Detail the outcomes of your actions and any insights gained.
  • Discuss the implications of your learning for systemic leadership of School Improvement. In your response, elaborate on communication strategies you would deploy to engage, inform, and empower staff from diverse teams and schools to enrich the School Improvement process.
