AddressWe are looking for a future-focused and strategic-thinking applicant to manage the team in the delivery and reporting of complex infrastructure, planning and asset management, and provide strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General, ISD executive and departmental stakeholders on a variety of Infrastructure Programs.
This full-time temporary vacancy is available until 30 September 2024, unless otherwise determined.
About Us
Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) provides quality infrastructure services to the department. ISD is a highly motivated, energetic and results orientated team focused on delivering flexible, innovative and responsive infrastructure solutions.
ISD contributes to teaching and learning outcomes in schools by aligning facilities services to whole of government initiatives and departmental priorities. Core functions include policy formulation, strategic planning, program formation, project delivery and performance reporting.
The Special Program Delivery team; delivers the projects and programs outside of the normal business-as-usual requirements. These may come about due to a budget announcement, election commitment, new strategy or initiative.
About the Role
The Director, Special Program Delivery reports to the Executive Director, Infrastructure Delivery. The Director will:
- Develop and implement frameworks, systems and processes to ensure effective delivery of priorities in Special Program Delivery, ensuring consistency, continuity and quality of departmental strategic and operational objectives.
- Provide expert advice to the Executive Director, Assistant Director General, Deputy Director-General, Director General and Minister concerning overall services, project/program progress, identifying dependencies between service delivery and/or projects against business benefit outcomes,
- Lead a range of activities to develop, implement, maintain and review the initiatives designed to support the specific goals and objectives of Infrastructure Services.
- Lead and manage the day to day operations of the Directorate by setting objectives and ensuring the effective delivery of planned outcomes.
- Provide guidance and leadership to staff, manage work performance and provide appropriate feedback.
- Develop program governance framework with the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) providing expert advice and strategic input into the development of project deliverables meeting quality standards and program requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, use strategic partnerships to deliver innovative and agile solutions to resolve complex risks and issues associated with services and/or Program Delivery.
- Manage services and/or Program Delivery progress through the use of dashboards monitoring, evaluating and reporting on related trends and performance.
- Facilitate reviews (e.g. end-of-tranche and benefits) on behalf of the SRO.
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to lead others, meet client needs, represent the department and foster and maintain productive partnerships with team members and internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills and have the understanding of project delivery and project management of construction related works.
- Personal drive and integrity including the ability to proactively improve systems, services, policies, practices and processes to ensure that departmental objectives are achieved and to be accountable for the course of action taken to create this improvement.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
