Role

The Disability Inclusion Coordinator will ensure students with disability and additional needs are engaged in education and meeting their learning goals. To do this they will work collaboratively with the school¿s leadership, wellbeing staff and allied health teams. They also will work collaboratively with services/teams outside the school environment, which may include Health and Wellbeing Inclusion Workforces, liaising with Student Support Services key contacts and external therapists. The Disability Inclusion Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the team around the learner.

The Disability Inclusion Coordinator will play a key role in the school¿s transition to Disability Inclusion, which will include supporting the organisation with Disability Inclusion Profile meetings, supporting teachers to identify students who may benefit from a profile meeting, and supporting school leadership to use Disability Inclusion funding to resource evidence based reasonable adjustments, for individual students and cohorts of students.

This role involves: 

  • Coordinating resources around the current PSD program.
  • Leading the transition and implementation of Disability Inclusion for Westbreen Primary School.
  • Conducting and leading student support groups meetings with parents, to assist teachers in communicating objectives and outcomes relating to educational programs and/or students.
  • The facilitation of writing and distribution of Individual Education Plans. 
  • Completing applications for Disability Inclusion Profile meetings.
  • Liaising with relevant regional office staff to support students.
  • Liaising with external providers of support services.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: 

·       Liaising with and providing information to parents, staff and students about the Disability Inclusion program.

·       Preparing documentation for the Disability Inclusion program.

·       Coordinating the distribution of Disability Inclusion communication. 

·       Providing administrative support for Disability Inclusion.

·       Liaising with service providers, welfare agencies and relevant organisations to facilitate student supports. 

·       Developing and adapting work methods and organising systems for the effective implementation of Disability Inclusion at Westbreen Primary School.

Who May Apply

Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

PSD experience preferred. 

Sound knowledge of a range of disabilities and diagnoses and how they impact learning.

Excellent Microsoft office skills, including proficiency with excel and word.
