Disability Support Worker
Peckys Disability Services (Peckys) has been operating in the local Blacktown area since 1981, providing quality support and services including day programs, accommodation support and weekend recreation services for more than 200 clients.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for dedicated and caring Disability Support Workers to join our Group homes in the Blacktown area. We have a number of permanent part-time and casual opportunities providing quality care and support for our clients in our Group homes (which include sleepover shifts).
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct support to people with a disability including personal care and medication management;
- Application of Participant plans ie; behaviour support, epilepsy management, etc.;
- Accurate data collection in all areas of community participation;
- Maintaining and monitoring a client’s person-centered support plan.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Ability to support Clients in community engagement and skill development.
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as ability to work independently with a client one to one.
- Current NSW Driver's License.
- Confidence in driving a Hi-Ace van
- 1st Aid certificate or willingness to obtain within 2 months of start date
- NDIS Screening check, or a willingness to obtain prior to work commencement
- Confirmed COVID-19 vaccination
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with and a passion for working with people who have disabilities
- Relevant industry and/or tertiary qualification e.g. Certificate 3 or 4 in Disabilities
- Knowledge and experience working with challenging behaviours
- Strong communication skills
- Computer literate
