Under the limited direction of the District Manager:
Plans and implements the conservation service in the Blackwood district, through leadership of the conservation team and in liaison with the Regional Leader Conservation and the district corporate team.
Directs, coordinates, prepares and delivers wildlife conservation plans, threat abatement programs, area management plans and monitoring programs.
Contributes through close collaboration with the District Fire Coordinator, to district fire planning including for prescribed burns and provides advice on burning strategies for biodiversity conservation in land management.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
Considerable knowledge of and experience in the delivery of nature conservation and natural resource management, including planning and implementing works programs and reporting on activities, identifying threats to conservation and wildlife values and implementing measures required to rehabilitate and recover those values.
Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in the leadership and management of staff, researchers, contractors and volunteers including conducting employee development and performance management reviews, where appropriate.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in effective liaison and negotiation at a senior level to achieve organisational objectives with external organisations including local authorities, private companies' other government agencies, stakeholders, Indigenous groups, community interest groups and the media and handling complex and detailed information requests.
Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of administrative and financial management of operations including project management, risk management, contract management, budget preparation, expenditure control within financial constraints and an ability to apply for external grant applications.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
