LOCATION:
Chatswood - walking distance from public transport and parking provided on site. Excellent hybrid working on offer with 50% work from home.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to an experienced and elite Divisional CFO, this Financial Controller will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its growth journey. The Financial Controller has responsibility for the Finance and Human Resources functions. They will provide leadership to the team, and bring financial, managerial, and administrative skills, procedures, reporting structures, governance, and controls to the company. This a pivotal leadership role that collaborates with management across the division, the senior executive team, and the ASX Group, to support the growth strategy, increased efficiency, and success of the business.
 
The Financial Controller will act as a true partner and 2IC to the CFO and Leadership Team to provide ongoing strategic support, change management, transformation and efficiency improvements. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for leading and driving new system upgrades and improvements.
 
As the Financial Controller, you will take full ownership for the strategic delivery of business results. The Financial Controller has primary day-to-day responsibility for shaping business strategies to add value beyond finance across a broad range of stakeholders and providing leadership to the finance team. The key success factor will be your ability to business partner and lead a team through the development of performance targets and delivery of group results.
 
This role not only requires an excellent technical and analytical mind but also someone that can think outside of the box and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to an experienced and elite Divisional CFO and working closely with the senior leadership team, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Provide leadership and management to the Finance team including 5 direct reports.
  • Motivate and evaluate employee performance, and drive the growth, selection, and retention of great talent.
  • Oversee all Finance operations and manage the accuracy and productivity of activities including, but not limited to, month end close and reconciliations, general ledger control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed & intangible assets, cashflow, revenue recognition, accounting and tax compliance.
  • Oversee all HR operations including, but not limited to, payroll, superannuation, employment contracts, awards, workers compensation, OH&S, company policies, and governance payments and returns.
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as insurance, vehicle financing, and facilities management.
  • Prepare the monthly financial result, reports, and analysis for senior management and the ASX Group.
  • Oversee key daily accounts receivable related activities including cash allocations, customer refunds, credit notes, invoice adjustments, collections correspondence, aged and bad debts, and customer invoice enquiries.
  • Manage the year-end and half-year audit and financial statements preparation and lodgement.
  • Ensure the filing of all tax, legal, and regulatory documents for all legal entities.
  • Manage relationships with the auditors, banking partners, tax agent, ERP provider, and regulatory bodies.
  • Embed effective financial and non-financial controls and business systems in daily functions, drive enhanced efficiency, and document processes thoroughly.
  • Assist the CFO with the annual budgeting process, financial analysis, forecasting and business acquisitions.
  • Actively engage with management, the senior executive team, and ASX Group to support cross-functional goals, objectives, and activities.
 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
You are a CA/CPA qualified Finance Manager/Financial Controller and possess a nurturing leadership style with the ability to engage and inspire your people. You consider business partnering a key strength and have the ability to work with senior stakeholders.   • Strong technical accounting reporting skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of new business systems, processes, and acquisitions.
  • Commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business.
  • Key eye for detail and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders.
  • Pro-active and customer focused mind set.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
