ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To support the client (participant) to achieve their goals as stated in their NDIS plan, and on our services plan. To maintain client safety and respect their right to choice and control over the service execution. To protect children’s welfare.
TASKS
Domestic Assistants perform a variety of tasks and they will vary from shift to shift and client to client. Examples include (but are not limited to):
• Detailed cleaning and organizing around the home which may include:
o Kitchen – benchtops, refrigerator, pantry, oven, cooktops, cupboard doors, floors
o Bathroom – bath, shower, glass, mirrors, windowsills, floors
o Toilet – bowl inside and out, windowsills, hand basins, walls, floors
o Bedrooms – dusting, make beds, change sheets, floors, walls, mirrors, windows
o Living spaces / offices – walls, floors, dusting, windows and windowsills.
• Changing bed linens
• Removing rubbish and changing bin liners
• Washing items and laundry assistance
They are to identify and manage risks in line with risk management policies, report on issues and hazards. DA’s are required to follow the Workplace Health and Safety Act at all times and observe the policies and procedures applicable to the role. DA’s will have access to equipment and chemicals used for cleaning and will be required to notify HHH administration when their supply is low.
DA’s can work from the Cleaning Checklist to ensure all basic client needs are met, and as time allows undertake additional tasks within their scope of practice for clients.
DA’s are to identify and report on situations of harm, likely harm or potential harm to a participant.
DA’s are to act ethically at all times. They are to follow the NDIS code of conduct at all times.
DA’s do not have any requirement to handle cash or monetary transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
DA’s have the option to enrol in:
• CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
All DA’s are required to have a valid and current Australian Driver’s licence for the state they work in.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Skillsets will vary according to client needs and will include:
• Time management
• Cleaning
• Organising
• Sorting
• Safety
ADDITIONAL NOTES
DA’s are required to hold the following:
1. Drivers Licence and comprehensively insured car
2. Double covid-19 vaccination where clients are aligned to the NDIS
3. Clean National Police Check
4. Yellow Card
Prior to commencement you will be required to complete:
1. NDIS Worker Orientation Module
2. NDIS New Worker Induction Module
