POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Drafter for a custom home builder building 24-30 homes per annum, you will play a crucial role in transforming architectural concepts into detailed, accurate plans for construction. You will work closely with the design and construction teams to create drawings that meet both client specifications and regulatory requirements. Your role is essential in ensuring that every project is executed with precision and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drafting and Design:
Prepare detailed architectural drawings and plans using ArchiCAD.
Develop floor plans, elevations, and sections based on initial designs and client feedback.
Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and local building codes.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of designs.
Review and revise plans as necessary in response to project developments or client changes.
Coordinate with the construction team to address any drafting-related issues that arise during the build process.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all drawings and revisions.
Prepare documentation for building approvals, council permits, and other regulatory requirements.
Assist in the preparation of construction documentation, including specifications and detailed drawings.
Client Interaction:
Participate in client meetings to discuss design requirements and provide updates on drafting progress.
Incorporate client feedback into design revisions and ensure their vision is accurately represented in the plans.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough checks of all drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Implement and adhere to quality control procedures for all drafting activities.
Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into drafting processes.
General:
Support other team members with drafting-related tasks as required.
Comply with company WH&S policies at all times.
Attend and contribute to team meetings, providing updates on drafting progress and any issues.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience in drafting within the construction industry.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting within the residential construction industry.
Proficiency in ArchiCAD and other relevant drafting software.
Strong understanding of building plans, specifications, and construction methods.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
