Job description

Position Title: Dream Seeds Coordinator

Organisation: The Rural Foundation Ltd (trading as Youthrive Victoria

Employment Status: Equivalent of two day per week

Location: Creswick office plus some in-school and some off-site

Reporting to: Programs Manager

Youthrive Victoria’s purpose is to strengthen rural communities by supporting young people to be the leaders of the future.

We are a dynamic for purpose organisation with a broad reach in rural Victoria. We support young people by offering scholarships to assist university study, vocational training and apprenticeships.

We provide transition mentors to support young people as they move away from home to study and we provide career mentors when required. We build capacity in rural young people and their communities through our Young Rural Leaders program and Alumni network. Our Dream Seeds® program provides opportunities for Year 5/6 students in rural schools to build aspiration, resilience and connections. We are at an exciting time in our development.

About You

You are passionate about supporting rural communities and young people. You are interested in learning and you know how schools and rural communities work. You are keen to build your skills, help young people lead great lives and contribute to the success of the Dream Seeds program.


About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for providing effective program coordination and administration for the Dream Seeds® program. You will be supported to build skills, networks and capabilities, undertaking a range of activities including to:

  • Liaise with Primary and P-12 schools and other partner organisations to book workshops and plan and attend trips across rural Victoria with volunteer presenters;
  • Be responsible for providing information to the accountant to send invoices and make payments;
  • Contribute to development and currency of content for students and teachers on the Dream Seeds website;
  • Engage more young people to train as presenters of the program,enabling future growth (outside the alumni group), including via the new Rural Youth Network;
  • Monitor the level of engagement, responsiveness of schools, and evaluation of workshop participants, to ensure high standards of educational outcome;
  • Seek opportunities for collaboration and new sources of funding for workshops in collaboration with Youthrive staff and Dream Seeds committee, including assisting with grant applications and acquittals;
  • Ensure all relevant program information is recorded in a timely, accurate, central, and appropriate manner,and to report on this each month to management and stakeholders;
  • Support improvements in productivity and personal development of our alumni and other rural presenters;

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of the lived experiences of growing up and working in a rural/regional community.
  • Knowledge of primary schools and current curriculum
  • Strong IT skills including competence using GoogleSuite, Adobe Suite, data management and social media.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders, such as schools and grant funders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive, flexible, ‘can do’ attitude and strong initiative and drive to develop Dream Seeds.

Terms and Conditions 

  • Applicable Award: Social, Community, Home Care and disability Industry Award
  • Salary: Ordinary hours $35/hr (above Level 1 Point 3) Overtime hours as per award
  • Hours and days of work: are flexible and can be negotiated, however, a predictable ‘timetable’ is required incorporating some attendance at the Creswick office.
