Early Careers Mental Health Program - Psychology

Our Program:

We are excited to announce we are seeking applications for multiple positions to join our Early Careers Program in Mental Health Services: Psychology - 

  • Provisional/Intern Psychologist (Grade 1)
  • Registered Psychologist/Psychology Registrar (Grade 2)

About the Positions:

The interprofessional Mental HealthEarly Careers Program offers allied health and nursing professionals a fully supported learning program that is delivered within a positive and safe environment. It aims to develop new skills, knowledge, applied experience and values for early career professionals to become effective members of the multi-disciplinary Mental Health team. 
Under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Psychologist and registered supervisor along with the Team Leader, they will provide comprehensive biopsychosocial clinical assessments and recovery-focused psychological treatment, and care, to people and their families that are evidence-based and best practice to enhance the person’s recovery from Mental Health disorder and psychological distress.

Elements include:

  • A comprehensive orientation
  • Mentor/buddy support
  • Rotations within different teams/settings
  • Professional development days
  • A personalised learning plan and study time
  • Clinical supervision with a Board Approved Supervisor 
  • Group supervision program
  • Discovery day opportunities to learn about other programs
  • Support from a Psychology Educator

About You:

You are a Provisional Psychologist and have recently completed your 5th year of psychology qualification and are on the pathway to becoming a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.  You are eligible to complete your Psychology Internship (6th year) across 2024/2025.

Alternatively, you are fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychologist and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) by commencement date and are eligible to complete a two-year Clinical Psychology Registrar program for Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.

Successful applicants with have an authentic desire to improve the lives of people with Mental Health conditions and to develop a career in an interprofessional public health setting. Your will be a keen and curious learner and passionate about delivering a high standard of care to consumers, families, carers and supporters. Candidates must meet the necessary key selection criteria outlined in the relevant position descriptions.

The Intern Psychologist position is offered as full-time on a fixed term 12-month basis, with the Registrar role a two-year fixed role.  This program is derived from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health system recommendations.
