About the Centre/Service Olive Phillips Kindergarten (OPK) is a vibrant, inclusive community kindergarten providing quality 3 and 4 year old kindergarten programs. OPK is a not-for-profit sessional kinder run by a Committee of Management made up of parent volunteers. Our curriculum supports children, families and teachers working together to create a community rich in values, knowledge and skills. The children are encouraged to explore the world around them, extend their learning and development in the arts, literacy, numeracy, science, nature, language, social and emotional wellbeing, communication, social justice, environmental education, cognition and physical development. Our curriculum has an inquiry approach that reflects Early Childhood theory and practice and focuses on supporting and extending the children’s interests and strengths to develop confidence, curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning. As a kindergarten we are committed to providing a child safe environment and all staff must demonstrate their ongoing responsibility to ensuring child safety. Olive Phillips Kindergarten was assessed in 2023 as ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standards’ in all 7 quality areas. We currently offer one 3 year old program (15 hours per week) and one 4 year old program (15 hours per week).
