ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Early Childhood Educator (Diploma) is responsible for the planning and implementation of an innovative and educational program that provides a warm and caring environment that enriches and enhances the children's lives and compliments their families’ beliefs.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent approved by ACECQA
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
  • Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
  • Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
  • Proven skills and experience in education and care, customer service, communication skills both written and verbal, computer operating systems and effective time management and organisational skills 
  • A solid understanding in Code of Conduct, Child Protection legislation, National Quality Framework - Education and Care Services Regulations, Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW), National Quality Standards and The Early Years Learning Framework

Position information: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight on a rotating roster between 6:00am to 6:00pm, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement (where applicable). 

These position is primarily based at Friend Park Children's Centre, however you may be required to work across any of Council's 13 Education and Care centres.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 7 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,214.97 to 1,397.22 per week  plus 11% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supportive environment, which endeavours to promote child protection practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application, if required, and it is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.
